Dandy is transforming the massive ($200B) but antiquated dental industry. Backed by some of the world's leading venture capital investors, we are on an ambitious mission to integrate and simplify every function of the dental practice through technology. By building the operating system for every dental office in America, Dandy is empowering dentists with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practice, their people, and their patients.
Job Overview:
Dandy’s approach to providing the operating system for dentists involves a number of critical components - efficient human operations, medical devices, ML/AI, sophisticated 3D computer vision and cutting-edge SaaS software. Dandy is hiring a skilled and deeply business-minded Assistant General Counsel to work with and report to the General Counsel to help drive not only the company’s legal function (including IP, commercial contracts, corporate, employment, dispute resolution, etc) but also to drive meaningful P&L value for the business by providing commercially savvy guidance to Dandy’s leadership team from the perspective of legal risks and opportunities.
Key Outcomes/What You’ll Do:
Partner with the General Counsel to build the legal function from the ground up, providing appropriate risk management to all aspects of Dandy’s business while encouraging rapid growth
Draft and negotiate Dandy’s commercial agreements with customers and partners, with an eye toward efficiency and mutually beneficial commercial outcomes
Implement regulatory compliance structures across Dandy’s business, particularly around medical devices/healthcare and employment
Anticipate and handle any dispute-related matters in a cost-effective way that benefits Dandy and its customers
Execute Dandy’s intellectual property strategy across copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets to protect Dandy’s innovative systems and software for improving the day-to-day work and outcomes of dentists everywhere
Handle corporate matters (financings, M&A, etc) and implement and administer Dandy’s equity compensation program
Advise Dandy’s founders and executive team on legal matters generally and act as trusted advisor on all matters of risk
You Have:
The ability to operate in ambiguity and make quick, and sound, decisions
A bias for speed and comfort with getting to 70% of the right answer quickly
Relentless focus on business outcomes over pure legal risk mitigation
Strong dispute resolution skills and high empathy
Relentlessly positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and the ability to have fun at work
An unstoppable drive to win and build an iconic, category-defining, business
What We're Looking For:
8+ years of experience as a lawyer generally
2+ years of experience in a corporate legal role, public company experience a plus
3+ years of experience in-house at a tech company, B2B startups preferred
A proven track record in executive leadership or a demonstrable ability to get there
JD, LL.B, or equivalent degree
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located
For full time positions, we offer a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits including healthcare, dental, parental planning, mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
