Segal McCambridge , a national litigation firm with a long-standing reputation for excellence in the courtroom, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney  to join our team   with a focus on general liability defense litigation . This position requires an active license to practice in Connecticut . Preference will be given to candidates based in Connecticut, but it is not required.  

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to take ownership of their cases while working in a collaborative environment with mentorship from experienced trial attorneys. You’ll be involved in challenging, high-exposure matters and supported by a national team of seasoned litigators.

About the Role

You’ll handle a diverse caseload of general liability matters, including:

• Premises liability
• Property damage
• Personal injury defense
• Construction-related general liability
• Child Victim Act
• Trucking/Transportation
• Other tort and civil litigation

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing cases from inception through resolution or trial
• Drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions
• Taking and defending depositions
• Conducting legal research and developing case strategies
• Participating in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
• Communicating with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
• Collaborating with partners and other team members on case strategy

What We’re Looking For

• Active license to practice law in Connecticut  (required)
• 1+ year  of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
• Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
• Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
• Dual licensure in MA, NJ, NY or another jurisdiction is a bonus
