The Office of Social Equity and Innovation, within the office of Neighborhood Safety division is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Pretrial Release Case Manager to join our team and provide essential support to juveniles on the Pretrial Release Program. In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping young people navigate challenges and succeed in their communities. In addition, the ideal candidate will provide essential intake screening services for juveniles in the City and County of Denver as well as playing a crucial role in assessing and evaluating youth who are detained.

This position is part of the Second Judicial District Youth Detention Continuum Program, formerly called the Senate Bill 94 Program. The Youth Detention Continuum is a statewide collaborative effort which focuses on the appropriate placement of youth in the detention continuum. The program’s philosophy is based on the belief that not all youth require secure detention. The foundation of the program is the partnership between state agencies and local organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Gather detailed social histories, analyze data, and develop tailored action plans to address the unique needs of each juvenile.
• Provide Direct Support: Offer guidance, counseling, and referrals to community resources to support youth's progress and well-being.
• Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with attorneys, judges, and other agencies to ensure effective case management.
• Respond to youth behaviors and compliance on supervision and focusing on community safety. This also includes holding youth accountable for their behavior to effectively support positive behavior change.
• Monitor and Evaluate: Conduct regular check-ins with youth, families, and service providers to assess progress and make necessary adjustments.
• Compliance with Court orders: Ensure all clients on caseload are compliant with the orders of the court and respond appropriately with consequences and incentives. Provide information and recommendations to the court.
• Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of case notes, data, and reports daily or as required.
• Attend court hearings and advocate for the best interests of juveniles regarding compliance and non-compliance.
• Case Management: Develop and implement case plans, conduct assessments, and provide structured supervision to pre-adjudicated juveniles.
• Community Outreach: Collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to evaluate youth's progress and address their needs.
• Adheres to all protocols set forth in the Case Management Protocol Handbook.
• Intake Screening: conduct screening tool and other assessments as needed to determine detention or home release on youth arrested on a rotational weekly basis, as well as one weekend shift a month.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Familiarity with commonly used databases (for example: (TRAILS, SAVIO Management), and risk/need and treatment assessment tools (for example: CJRA, ARNA, CYDSI, CRAFFT, HRV).
• Understanding of effective interventions and evidence-based practices for working with youth.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Detailed orientated and working knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to problem solve in stressful situations.
• Skilled in de-escalation and trauma informed.
• Ability to make difficult recommendations in the best interest of the client as well as the safety of the community in difficult situations.
• Ability to multi-task in stressful situations.
• Prior experience working with/engaging/mentoring high-risk youth
• Prior work experience with law enforcement
• Can work independently but also works well in a team environment, and willing to help out where and when needed.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Other fields of study will be considered when there is additional relatable experience.
• Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in interviewing, investigating, case management, and/or counseling in areas such as pretrial, probation, community corrections, prison, alcohol/drug abuse, domestic violence, or a related area.
• Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
